I will not tell the story of The Mars Volta's experience with Soothsayer the talking board (ouija), Goliath, and the other personalities they encountered along the way. It has been told many times by many people and is easy enough to find.
However, I do wish to share some of the sayings that eventually (after much turmoil) became the lyrics on the album, The Bedlam in Goliath.
I find the communications that became the bridge between these souls to be some the most beautiful pieces of literature I've ever come across. They are cryptic, chilling, and beautiful all at the same time.
Also, I can't post all of these lyrics without also posting music from the album, so after all of the lyrics there will be two songs, a sediment to hold it all up.

Metatron:
"The vault that I call home
It falls beneath your palms
Before I crawl my way out she calls
When you're standing right outside my window..."

"In the dead plot you dream in
Ten go away
Ten born of pray
Ten go away"

Cavalettas:
"So if you break me a mirror
Hang the broken pieces of a place that isn't here"

"And the names you planted, drop the seed into a hole
If you force me often, I might jump off the board."

"Don't ignore my presence, hidden reads the scroll
By the time I asked her, the earth fell off the tongue
What once was laughter, corrosive I became
Where a scarlet bruise grows, sprout the fault we own"

Tourniquet Man:
"I've seen the only living traces flicker in the sulphur
And the ones who do believe me place your favour
Before you lay your question down there's a matter of the payment..."

"Let me be your Tourniquet Man
Let me keep you as a favour
Let me be your Tourniquet Man
Let me keep you as a favour
When I hear your fingers they will spell my name
As I trade the faces of the holders."

"I can't diminish anymore if I chose to dissolve in you
There's so much we can lose"

Agadez:
"I'm nowhere near this place you wear
It's unforgivable, it knows that I am visible
Broken mirrors and useless prayer
This lock is healing me, you know you come so willingly
There burns a kiss with serpent scales
There is no miracle, I lost your miracle"

Soothsayer:
"This deceit has no arms
Bended will take what's yours
Calling me
She's calling me
This it may have come to falter
We have become these pleads"

Ouroboros:
"Of all the warnings that you gave me
With all components in the fault
Have you ever heard me scraping?
It will be hard to hold."

"They lost the presence they were holding
Looks like the tenants flickered off
If the cell that holds me breaks me
It will be hard to hold"

Myrmidone: Travis Toner

Travis is a friend and someone I've had the pleasure of playing music with over the past few years. This is some solo work he's just posted. On these Myrmidone pieces he plays both electric and classical guitar. His music is a true reflection of his Self (capital "S"); at times atonal, bedded, and never contrived.

Cosm:

I find what Neil says from 1:42-5:10 to be very, VERY powerful. This took my breath away the first time I heard it. It reaffirms, for me, the idea of the macrocosm and the microcosm, yet at the same time demonstrates that there is only One "Cosm." As above, so below.

For the few who read my blog:

I have decided to change my original Mind Beam Receptaculum blog into a blog that exclusively contains only things I can claim authorship of. However, since I also enjoy posting things I find interesting, powerful, or inspiring which are produced by other people, I have decided to create this new blog. From this day forward any post  that contains content I did not  create will be put up on this blog.  Conversely, anything that finds its origins in me will pe posted on my original blog, Mind Beam Receptaculum. Oddly enough, though not planned consciously, I have decided to this on my birthday, which is today. For those of you who enjoy reading my blog I say thank you, and I hope that you enjoy this new gathering place of miscellany.
